The second and third waterproof concrete pours!

Work is still progressing as we leave the summer behind.

The timber form work has been removed to reveal the walls. These walls have been cast in situ (on site) with waterproof concrete. The decision to use waterproof concrete has been made to protect the studio (which is a semi-buried basement) from the damp. It is very unusual in Cornwall for this method of construction to be used in a residential scheme which has added a taste of adventure to the build.

The outside of the walls are also clad in a heavy duty waterproof rubber sheet as a second line of defence.

The pictures to the left show the results of the wall pours as the form work was struck. The grain of the timber shuttering leaves an elegant moulding on the concrete.

The photographs below show the wall pours in progress.
