We have recently achieved planning permission for a site in Polzeath! Due to its prominent position overlooking the beach, special attention was made to minimising visual impact, while maximising the potential of the unusually shaped site.
The design presents above the ground as two traditional cornish barn forms, slightly dug into the hill with the higher ground banking up around the rear of the buildings. These contain the living spaces, and the bedrooms are held underground, with the roof of the bedrooms representing the original field landscape. Sunken courtyards are formed between the bedrooms to introduce light and maintain privacy.
